July 2021 Newsletter

Summer is flying by like it always does. We wait for it and then try to pack as many activities and events into it as we can.

Well it’s already mid July with plenty of rain and soon our county fair will be here. Many people outside of our sport are surprised to learn that a snowmobile club is very active all year long and OVSA is certainly one of them.

We held our meeting July 11th at the Sportsmens Club and it was good to see everyone there. We are right in the middle of our ticket sales for our September raffle. The final date for any ticket stubs/monies to be turned in will be at our August 29th meeting. Tom and Jane Gebel have done a super job once again for us so if you can turn everything in before then it makes a lot less work at the meeting for them. Their number is 585 734 1903.

Currently a small group of members are working on a NYS Parks and Rec grant that would help us upgrade our fleet of groomers. This is a long and arduous process requiring a small mountain of paperwork to be filed within very specific time deadlines. There is no guarantee that we will be awarded this grant but there is no trail system more deserving than our OVSA system which is a major connector route in WNY for snowmobiling. We certainly will not fail from a lack of effort.

We also discussed the promotion of local businesses on our trails especially since we get so many sledders from outside of our immediate area. This idea will be explored further in subsequent meetings.

If you have any ideas please attend one of our meetings and discuss with others who sled about the opportunity of joining OVSA and our desire to further advance our family friendly sport.

Enjoy the rest of summer and we’ll see you soon.
