Hello, to all fellow snow mobilers and members of OVSA. This month we kicked off our meeting on Thursday night at Silver Lake Sportsmens Club at 6:15. We read the minutes from last month’s meeting and approved them. We then discussed our treasurer’s report and any questions were answered.

We started off new business discussing our annual safety course that will be held Saturday November 30th from 8 to 4 at the Warsaw Fire Hall. The number to call to register is 585-519-1573.
At our November meeting we discuss our current slate of officers-board of directors and take any new nominations. These are our officers and board members at this time.

Our next meeting will be Sunday December 8th 11am. Afterwards we hold our annual Christmas dinner at the Silver Lake Sportsmens Club around noon. We will also have an officer from Letchworth State Park there with trail and park information.
We decided this season to have meetings during the week to help the club grow. The thought is that there are possible members that just can’t make it on Sundays but might like a weekday evening better.
This month our February gun raffle tickets are available. Thank you to Brian Bartron for once again heading up this important fundraiser for us. If you would like some tickets please reach out to any club member or Brian Barton 716-491-1847. For every 20 tickets sold the seller receives 1 free ticket.
In other news NYS state has decided to throw a few wrenches in things. First off they are talking about extending deer season into January which would shorten our riding season even more than it is now. This idea will hopefully not be approved. Our next hurdle this season is how NYS Parks figures the trail reimbursement funds to clubs. It is calculated by the mile and we currently have a 66 mile stretch that has been classified “high snow”. The state has updated their map and eliminated that designation of those 66 miles for us. If this does go through it will lower the funds we receive for keeping our trails and groomers first rate. Hopefully before the snow dust settles there will be an amenable agreement from the state to keep our snowmobile community strong.
This leads to the topic of supporting our fundraisers to allow us to not solely depend on state funds. OVSA has always worked hard at our own fundraisers and looking out fiscally for our club.
We have started a large bridge project on our Orangeville trail system. This will require lots of work and we’re always looking for some help. More of our trails will be marked as the standing corn gets combined.
