Welcome to all OVSA members. President Chance called the meeting to order at 11:10am at the Attica Hotel. We had our meeting here in our effort to rotate meetings around the county. Thank you to the Hotel for their hospitality and good food.
Last month’s minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Gail answered any questions members had on her monthly report.
Brian Bartron discussed our February Daily Drawing and reported that 950 tickets were sold. This was a very successful fundraiser and a big thank you to Brian for overseeing this. In the absence of our big steak/shrimp raffle party our two monthly drawing fundraisers have become very important. Thanks to all for your support.
We also discussed the possibility of one large fundraiser per year instead of two smaller ones. If you have any ideas about fundraising please come to a meeting or contact anyone of us.
A couple of weeks ago the Grateful Grill held a snowmobile dice run which was very successful. Conditions were perfect and a lot of sleds attended. We thank them for their generous donation and for sledders supporting their business during our season.
We talked about our current fleet of groomers and their drags with discussion on what we might do in the future for newer upgraded equipment.
A committee has been formed to investigate acquiring some property for the construction of a groomer barn to better be able to store and work on equipment. This is certainly something we’re envisioning for the future. Again if you have any thoughts/ideas on this please let us know. We want to be constantly growing and concerned about how we can do things better to enhance the experience of our sport.
We have decided to hold a drive thru chicken barbecue for our landowners this May 2nd at 12noon in the Warsaw Village Park by the Legion Hall. They will drive thru the park and we will hand them dinners to go when they reach the Legion Building. Invites have been mailed and we will tally up those planning on attending. If you are a landowner and you want to come please mail back your cards promptly. We will assemble the dinners in the kitchen of the Legion in take out containers.
We indeed like to thank our landowners for the use of their land.
A big thanks also goes out to Trail Coordinator Steve Cox and all the guys that work on groomers and groom the trails. They collectively put in hundreds of hours that few sledders know about. That is what it takes to keep 5 groomers running.
It’s a team effort and OVSA works hard to be the best. We thank you for being a crucial part of our club.
We ended up with 416 members which is a jump from 337 last year.
Our next meeting will be at The Pines April 11th at 11am. See you there.
