February 2025 Newsletter

Hello to all our members, President Chance opened the meeting at 11:11am and the minutes were read and accepted from January’s meeting.

Treasurer Michelle handed out her report and any questions were answered. Fuel and insurance costs were some of our biggest expenses. Fuel tanks are being kept topped up.

We’ve finally had a much better winter for sledding and several members rode their sleds to the meeting which sure is great. Our trails have been open for 15 days so far and the groomers have been building up the bases. Thank you to the guys for all the late hours you’ve been putting in. Also don’t forget to get your work log sheets to Michelle Hess.

There is a club in Fillmore that didn’t get any NYSSA Raffle tickets so President Chance took some down to them. They were kind enough to put OVSA on the ticket as the seller. We must turn our sold NYSSA tickets in by the April meeting.

Brian Bartron reported our February Daily Drawing Raffle a success with 947 tickets sold. Superb job Brian and thank you for once again heading this up for OVSA. Thank you to all our members who purchased and sold tickets. This is a big fundraiser for OVSA.

Trail Coordinator Steve Cox has been busy this winter coordinating grooming, getting some new lighting for our groomer barn and discussing repairs that are being done to our storage barn. Trails and culverts have been installed and a lot of attention has been spent on what many describe “as one of the best systems in WNY”. Thank you Steve and all the guys who work together to make this happen.
We’ve seen some spectacular photos on Facebook of grooming, riding and nature photos. When Steve recently captioned a photo “this is what makes all the work worthwhile” when riding with his daughters many of us understand that feeling. There’s something unique about snowmobiling in the beautiful countryside we have. It is indeed a fun, family, friendly sport.

We are having a Dice Run this February 16th starting from the Bliss Hotel from 11-5pm. A spaghetti dinner will be served from 4-6pm and a basket raffle too. Registration is $10 and you can do so at any of the 7 stops on the run. You only have to make 5 of the stops.

On a sad note long time club member Kurt Van Dorn passed away. His calling hours will be from 1-4 on February 15th at the John W. Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. A motion was made that the club donate $250 in his memory and President Chance will take care of this. Kurt will be missed by this club and his longtime friends.

Meeting was adjourned at 12:01pm
