April 2019 Newsletter

The minutes from our March meeting were read and approved. We ended the season with 385 members.

Treasurer Gail answered any questions on the monthly report and stated that we are current with all payments received from NYS Parks and Rec. which is always good news.

Trail Coordinator Steve said the groomers are all fixed and ready for next season. The county has dug up a crossing on Oatka Rd. and we’re looking to put in a culvert next fall with their help. We always appreciate the support we get from our Wyoming County Highway Dept. It takes a lot of cooperation from many people to make a trail system work. Steve said our trails were open for 20 days this year. He is also looking into more of the plastic orange stakes we use for corridor markers. The trail guys love to put these in, they’re easily seen and they come out of the ground easier than wood posts.

Tracey Lawson mentioned the high praise OVSA trails receive from other sledders outside of our system. They recognize a well marked and groomed system when they ride it.

Thanks to all our trail guys who do a great job with marking and grooming. It’s a big effort shared by many and thanks to Steve for heading it up.
