President Chance called our meeting at the Pines to order at 12:15.
The minutes from last month’s meeting were read and accepted.
Treasurer Gail answered questions on her report and highlighted that we had spent $12,581 just on fuel for grooming this season. A number of our groomer guys logged over 100 hours each in our groomers this year. This is why sledders compliment us on our trails each year. We certainly do our best.
We spoke about upcoming fundraisers and the uncertainty still in NYS over indoor gatherings. Because of this we have moved our steak raffle party to September 10, 2022.
This September we will hold a daily drawing ticket raffle once again hosted by Tom and Jane Gebel. This was very successful for us last year.
Glenn O’Connor spoke about the possibility of OVSA pursuing a grant to purchase a new groomer/drag. A grant can pay for 80% of the cost. Several clubs have taken advantage of this over the years but it does entail quite a bit of work going through the process and no certainty in being awarded one. It will be looked into further.
Trail Coordinator Steve spoke about replacing our current Arrowhead drag with a new Trail Paver unit of which we have several and they work excellently for us. A motion was made to approve the purchase of white oak decking boards for repairs of our bridges. Wood cost has increased over the past year and we’ll have to pay more.
A small committee will be meeting soon to discuss the idea of building our own groomer barn in the future. Obviously there are many details to discuss and work through for this to be possible.
Our NYSSA conference will held the weekend of May 2nd in Syracuse at the On Center. There is always much to learn about each year for our sport.
Sunday May 2nd will be our drive thru landowner chicken barbecue appreciation dinner at the Warsaw Legion Building in the Warsaw Village Park. Cars will drive thru on the park road and the dinners will be handed to them as they reach our serving point. We will hand dinners down from the Legion building to the roadway and the landowners will be checked against a list compiled from mailed in reservation cards and quantities. Our last meeting of the season will be held afterwards in the Legion building around 1pm or so.
So stop in at 10am to help setup and serve. Our serving time is noon but we’ll happily dispense dinners as soon as we’re ready and cars appear.
As always thanks for your support of OVSA and making our sport a fun, friendly, family one.
President
Chance Vogt
