February 2018 Newsletter

Pres. Jeff called the meeting to order at 11:12. The minutes from last month’s meeting were read and approved. We currently have 433 members.

Treasurer Gail handed out the treasurer’s report and answered any questions. 75% of the members now utilize the online joining process making it easier for them to join and produce their own DMV Voucher. Memberships to sled clubs and sled registrations run out August 31st so anytime after that is a good time to join the club and get your sled registered for the season.

Trail Coordinator Steve Cox spoke on trails and groomers. Mike Black is heading up repairs on the Tucker which has a damaged rear axle. The BR 180 got a new windshield installed. Work is being done with a new culvert on Broughton’s property off of Silver Springs Road to help with the water flow and make it easier for sled travel. In that same area Bruce Blankenship repaired the short bridge over the creek to finish the season. We’ll put in a new one for next season. Steve said we’ll be stocking up on more new trail signs. A new trail map will also be printed by the county federation next year which will run from 2018-2020.

NYSSA rep. Jay Zintel was at our meeting to mention the bikini run next Saturday Feb. 10th at the Oakfield groomer barn. This is a popular event and a big money raiser for breast cancer each year. Club member Dennis Murphy will be riding in the annual breast cancer event in Old Forge next weekend. Oatka Valley Snowmobile Club donated $100 to this important fundraiser.

Brian Bartron said we have sold 847 tickets for our February Daily Drawing which should help us in this important fundraiser for our club. Thanks for all the work you’ve done Brian and for the members who have sold tickets and purchased them.

Our landowner picnic will be held Sunday April 15th at the Warsaw Legion building 10am. Members can bring baked goods for desserts and door prizes for the landowners. Steve Mehlenbacher will be providing our chicken barbecue dinner once again.
Lets keep hoping for some significant snow to get back on our trails.
Meeting was adjourned at 11:42.
