OVSA March 1, 2020 Meeting

Past President Jeff Fitch called the meeting to order at 11:07am. It was great to see so many sleds at the Sportsmens Club coming for the meeting. So far this year our trails have been open for 20 days, the same as last year. We currently have 335 members.

Jeff read the minutes from last month’s meeting and they were approved.

Treasurer Gail put her report on the tables for everyone to see. She also reminded groomer operators to fill out both sides of their grooming journey to make her job of reporting hours a bit easier. Please remember to do so for her. Gail said we have enough groomer hours now for our NYS Parks grant.

Brian Bartron reported that our February Daily Drawing had 864 tickets sold. Thank you Brian for running another successful event for OVSA.

We discussed rotating meetings next year and The Pines in Portageville is fine with hosting us. President Chance will contact the other 3 suggestions and we will determine a schedule for next year.

Jim Day will have tickets at our April meeting for our September 12th steak/shrimp raffle party at the Perry Firemens Building. Our biggest fundraiser and a lot of fun.

Steve Cox reported that the GPS work on our trails which is required every 3 years should be completed now. A bridge project in Rock Glen has been finished. We have received some swamp mats which we’ll use in various water hole problems on our trails. These are big, heavy and very effective. Steve also mentioned the groomer track claws can be installed on the NH groomer in about 20 minutes for going up icy terrain and they work great. They are taken off for flat field grooming. Mike Black has been doing some work on our Tucker groomer. The BR160 and 180 have been brought back over to the groomer barn in Hermitage. Steve mentioned the compliments we’ve received for having smooth trails for riders to enjoy. Many sledders know OVSA trails for being the best they can be in WNY. Steve congratulated all the groomer operators for making this possible and Steve must be thanked as well. There is a lot that goes into being a Trail Coordinator and Steve puts in a lot of hours. Fortunately he has 2 hard working daughters to assist him.

Our next meeting is April 5th and we’ll be discussing our Landowner Picnic chicken barbeque which will be held April 19th at the Warsaw Legion Building. We set up at 10am and serve from 12-2pm so round up some door prizes and desserts and support our landowners.

As always thanks for your help in making our sport safe and fun for all.
